Papaya Leaf Extract and Anti-cancer Benefit

The link between papaya leaf extract and anticancer benefit has been established in a study published on jcmtjournal. According to a 2017 study, papaya black seeds contains beneficial anticancer properties on PC-3 prostate cancer cells.
Papaya, also known as pawpaw, has been described as a super fruit by researchers after it was discovered it can prevent and may be able to treat a wide range of cancers, particularly prostate cancer.

Scientists also found that papaya contains potent anti-cancer properties which is effective against liver cancer, lung cancer, cervical cancer, and pancreatic cancer.

Study on Papaya Leaf Extract and Anticancer Benefit

For the study on papaya leaf extract and anticancer benefit, the research team from the University of Florida, used dried papaya leaf extract to prepare tea and add them to dishes with contains cancerous cells. From the research, it was discovered that the papaya leaf extract enhanced the production chemicals that regulate the immune system. The scientists concluded that papaya may be used as an alternative treatment for cancer treatment.
Dr Nam Dang, of the University of Florida, said papaya displayed a dramatic anticancer effect against a broad range of tumours grown in the laboratory. These tumours included lung cancer, liver cancer, and pancreatic cancer.
According to Dr Dang;
“Papaya leaf extract enhances the production of key signaling molecules called Th1-type cytokines. This immune system regulation and papaya’s direct anti-tumor effect on various cancers, suggests possible therapeutic approaches that use the immune system to destroy cancerous cells.”
Dr Dang added that there was no side effects to taking papaya leaf extract to fight tumors. In other words, papaya extract had no toxic effects on normal cells, but eliminates only cancer cells.

This isn’t the case with most cancer therapy that destroy both healthy and cancerous cells.
According to Dang, people from Australia and Vietnam give consistent reports on the authenticity of papaya extract in fighting against cancer without harm.
Dr Dang concluded that the results suggested that the papaya extract encouraged death of cancer cells.

Is it Safe to Drink Papaya Leaf during Pregnancy?

Most people are wondering if it is really safe to drink papaya leaf extract during pregnancy. The fact is ripe papaya is safe to be consumed during pregnancy, but unripe papaya is unsafe because it contains latex.

However, some women decide to eliminate all papaya from their diet until after they give birth, as there are many other sources of nutrition to enjoy safely during pregnancy.
